Composition
A wide variety of materials, both natural and processed, have been used to make incense since ancient times. In its earliest days, these aromatic wonders were used more in the form of raw wood, herbs, leaves, seeds and spices which was added to fire to summon an individual's chosen deity or spirit guides. Gradually, as contemporary extracting techniques were discovered, a wide array of materials were included in the list of raw materials. In modern times, incense are made from woods, natural herbs, plants and flowers along with essential oils and artificial scents, depending upon its formulation and healing applications.
Natural
Traditionally incense were made only from the exotic and mystical scents found in nature. In fact, incense was incepted in the form of raw wood, herbs, leaves, seeds and spices that were added to fire during social gatherings or spiritual ceremonies. Even though a wide variety of artificial oils and aromas are used now-a-days in processing incense, the exquisiteness and paragon of natural incense remains incessant.
