Cannabis Essential Oil

Cannabis Essential Oil Cannabis essential oil also known as hemp essential oil is extracted from Cannabis flower. Cannabis is an annual, dioecious, flowering herb that is spread ubiquitously in central Asia, and gradually spread to the whole world. The plant is principally used as a recreational drug and have psychoactive effect on the mind. The plant contains delta-l-tetrahydrocannabinol, most commonly referred to in its abbreviated form, THC, which gives a psychoactive effect and often sharpen the concentration to an implausible level.

Cannabis has generally not perfect flowers, and its staminate "male" and pistillate "female" flowers occurring on separate plants. It is a dioecious plant where male flowers are normally occurred on loose panicles, and female flowers are borne on racemes. Pollination of cannabis flowers occur by wind and produce "seeds" that are technically achenes. There are different varieties of cannabis plant where most of the plants are short day with the exception of C sativa subsp.sativa var. spontanea, which is "auto-flowering" and may be day-neutral.

Cannabis is classified into different species, subspecies, or varieties:
  • Some cannabis plants are principally used for fiber and seed production. These are low-intoxicant, non-drug, or fiber types.
  • There are cannabis subspecies that are used for drug production, highly intoxicant and drug types.
  • Some are wild cannabis, which are not used for either of above categories.

Cannabis is also used to produce concentrated, hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds, which has found wide application in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, incense and candles. It is also less commonly used in flavoring in foods, primarily candy and beverages. Cannabis essential oil is entirely different from hemp oil, a vegetable oil that is obtained from the seeds of low-THC varieties of hemp like Anka, Crag, Finola, and USO. The hemp essential oil is produced by steam distillation from the flowers and upper leaves of the Cannabis plant.

The Cannabis essential oil has a pale yellow coloration and a volatile liquid. The oil contains many volatile compounds such as monoterpenes, sesquiterepenes, and other terpenoid-like compounds. It is produced in countries like France and Switzerland from both low-THC and high-THC varieties of Cannabis.

Cannabis as Herbal Incense:

The cannabis herb is used in K2 incense, which has the substance JWH-018 along with two other artificial substances. The main substance JWH-018 was developed by Professor Huffman in 1995. These chemicals are the main reason why the said herb has the similar effect with cannabis plant.
The herb has a huge difference with cannabis plant. Herbal incense is used by inhale the smoke and it doesn't have smell like marijuana. Moreover, it is even considered to be a "legal" herb.
